Temple University succeeded in trimming a worker’s lawsuit alleging religious and race bias, including that his supervisors retaliated against him when they fired him for requesting a religious accommodation, according to a Pennsylvania federal court ruling.
Ricky Savage, a Black Muslim man, was fired three weeks into his new role as an electrical supervisor with Temple. He alleges Temple and his supervisors—Joseph Monahan, Kevin Casey, Brendan Muller, and Felishia Brown—discriminated against him under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, and the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance.
