Tecta America Narrows Claims in Employees’ Data Breach Lawsuit

Tecta America Corp. convinced a federal court to dismiss most of a proposed class action that current and former employees brought against the commercial roofing contractor over a data breach reported earlier this year.

The US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Tuesday dismissed the workers’ invasion of privacy, breach of implied contract, and unjust enrichment claims without prejudice, allowing them to replead.

The proposed class would cover at least 22,573 workers who needed to provide their information to Tecta for their employment, according to the amended complaint.
