Tecovas Says Colorado Company Copied Cowboy Boot Designs

Tecovas Inc. has accused the Colorado-based company Freebird Stores Inc., of copying two of its cowboy boot designs.

Tecovas says Freebird infringed on its trade dress for its Zane and Roy boots, two popular Tecovas ankle boots. The complaint was filed on Friday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

In addition to trade dress infringement, Austin, Texas-based Tecovas alleges unfair competition, misappropriation, and unjust enrichment. The company is seeking a permanent injunction restraining Freebird from infringing any of its marks, an order requiring a product recall, and damages.
