Taylor University in Indiana must face negligence, negligence per se, and breach of contract claims associated with a security breach of its computer system, a federal court said.
Lead plaintiffs Justin McLaughlin and Aturina Eshw brought several claims on behalf of themselves and others similarly situated after hackers penetrated Taylor’s network and took their personal information. McLaughlin and Eshw alleged that Taylor didn’t implement sufficient measures to safeguard their information and also failed to promptly notify them of the breach.
