Tax Consultant Sues Ex-Contractor’s Competing Business for Fraud

Safeway Tax Relief Inc. sued a former independent sales contractor for allegedly copying information about the company and its potential clients for use in his own business.

Amar Othman, now the chief executive officer of AFJP Services Corp., faces fraud, copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and breach of contract allegations in the US District Court for the Central District of California. AFJP, which does business as Canvatax, was also named as a defendant in Safeway’s lawsuit on Wednesday.
