Tata Accused of Favoring South-Asian Workers, Gaming Visa System

India’s Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. engages in intentional and inadvertent bias against workers who aren’t South Asian or are US-born, including by annually seeking more work visas than justified, according to a new proposed class action.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey by former Tata employee Shawn Katz is similar to prior cases against the information technology services giant. Katz, a White naturalized US citizen of Israeli national origin, seeks to represent a class consisting of employees who’ve been harmed by the alleged race and national origin discrimination.
