Taser Maker, Instructor Can’t Escape Cop’s Negligence Claims

Taser manufacturer Axon Enterprise Inc. and a police instructor must defend negligence claims by an officer who was struck in the eye by a Taser gun during a training session, the Fourth Circuit said Monday.

Virginia Beach Police Department Officer Shawn Curran took a break in a designated safety area while participating in the Axon-sponsored session. Another participant, who was in a role-playing exercise, fired his Taser but missed his intended target and hit Curran.
