Target Gets New Look at Jurisdiction in Warranty Class Suit

Target Corp. is entitled to a new look at whether a proposed class action over product warranties belongs in federal court, the Eighth Circuit said Monday.

The wrong standard was used in sending the case back to state court, the appeals court said.

Companies tend to prefer to litigate in federal courts, which they view as more business-friendly, while consumers generally believe state courts will better protect their rights.
