Tainted CooperSurgical IVF Embryo Culture Suits to Stay Separate

More than four dozen lawsuits alleging that CooperSurgical Inc. sold defective culture media that caused the destruction of hopeful parents’ embryos will proceed separately, the US Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said Friday.

Though the lawsuits share common issues related to how the media was made and tested, when CooperSurgical learned of the defect, and when the company communicated its recall to the public, the lawsuits span a fewe districts andjudges, the panel said.

And almost all of the plaintiffs are represented by just two law firms, the panel noted.
