Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP beat the malpractice claims brought by a processor of steel bars that alleged a breach of fiduciary duty during the course of a case against a former employee it accused of stealing confidential information, the Sixth Circuit said Thursday.
Bar Processing Corp. retained Taft Stettinius to represent it in various workers’ compensation matters. It sued the firm after Bar Processing found out an attorney from the firm, Kevin Barnes, counseled a newly formed competitor that hired a former Bar Processing employee it accused of taking confidential information upon his departure.
