Tabletop Fire Pit Maker Sued for Alleged Defect Causing Burns

Colsen Fire Pits LLC was hit with a class suit alleging its tabletop fire pits are defective and pose an unreasonable risk of burn injuries to consumers.

Shankea Barnhart’s complaint cites the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Oct. 17, 2024, recall of 89,500 Colsen Fire Pits. The recall was prompted by 31 reports of flame jetting and escaping from the fire pits, resulting in 19 burn injuries. Two incidents resulted in third degree burns over 40% of victims’ bodies, and the CPSC determined alcohol can splash, spill, or leak from the fire pits during use, causing flash fires, the complaint said. ...
