Swift Pork, Mechanic End Suit Over Medical Leave for Sick Wife

Swift Pork Co. and a former company mechanic have agreed to end a lawsuit after he claimed that the company violated the Family and Medical Leave Act by firing him for leaving his shift early to care for his ailing wife.

The company, a subsidiary of JBS USA Food Co., and the mechanic, Raymond Black, have agreed to dismiss the case with prejudice, according to a joint stipulation filed Friday with the US District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. Lawyers for Black and Swift Pork did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment on the agreement. ...
