SCOTUS Rejects Michigan Case on Legislators’ Election Power

The US Supreme Court said Monday that it wouldn’t hear a federal case from 11 Michigan GOP legislators that relied on a legal theory the justices shot down in separate ruling nearly two years ago.

The justices’ decision to not take up the case leaves in place a ruling from last December by a panel of US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit judges, who said the lawmakers who sought to overturn voter-passed state constitutional amendments lack the legal ability to file such a suit as individual legislators.
