Sunglass Deal Objectors Get $51,000, Not Requested $640,000

Attorneys representing objectors to a $40 million class settlement over Costa Del Mar Inc. sunglass warranties got their bid for nearly $640,000 in fees cut to just $51,000 after a federal court in Florida called their request “greatly exaggerated.”

The settlement resolved three lawsuits alleging Costa unlawfully charged consumers for warranties and repairs despite promises of a “lifetime warranty” and “nominal” repair fees.

The fund covers product vouchers, attorneys’ fees, and expenses.
