SunButter LLC is facing a proposed class action alleging the company falsely advertised its sunflower butter products as healthy and made with non-toxic ingredients despite containing harmful levels of cadmium.
Named plaintiffs John Boyd and Jana Rabinowitz alleged in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California that testing revealed that SunButter’s No Sugar Added Sunflower Butter contained 16.4 mcg of cadmium per serving, while the Organic Sunflower Butter contained 19.5 mcg.
