Suffolk University Hit with Suit Over Breach of Student Info (1)

Suffolk University negligently failed to protect the sensitive information of thousands of current and former students that was exposed in a July 2022 data breach, a new proposed federal class action said.

Susannah Smith alleges the university failed to implement industry standards for the protection of personal information and failed to provide adequate notice to affected students, according to a complaint filed Tuesday with the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Information disclosed in the breach included full names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, financial account information, and protected health information, the complaint said. ...
