Stryker Employment Gets Win in Suit Over Noncompete Agreement

A court order blocking an employee of Stryker Employment Co. LLC from jumping ship to competitor Alphatec Spine Inc. reasonably protected Stryker from harm and wasn’t an abuse of discretion, a federal appellate court ruled.

A lower court correctly concluded that Stryker was likely to prevail in its breach of contract lawsuit against Jafar Abbas, and that it would suffer irreparable injury if Abbas were allowed to begin working at Alphatec while the lawsuit was pending, the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said Thursday.
