Strippers, and the nightclubs and management companies who allegedly misclassified them as independent contractors rather than as employees, received permission from a federal judge in California to move forward with a $6.5 million settlement.
The deal resolves exotic dancers’ wage-and-hour claims involving around two dozen California clubs—including some in the Deja Vu Services Inc. chain—and covers as many as 8,400 class members, some of whom worked at multiple clubs under different stage names, according to filings in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
