Online sneaker re-seller StockX LLC is liable for selling counterfeit Nike shoes, and the platform will have to face a jury trial over claims that it unlawfully used Nike Inc.'s trademarks for nonfungible tokens, a Manhattan federal judge ruled Tuesday.
StockX, an online marketplace founded in 2015, sold four pairs of counterfeit Nikes to company investigators and 33 pairs of counterfeit shoes to another customer despite StockX’s claims that the shoes are “100% authentic,” Judge Valerie Caproni said.
