Stew Leonard’s Sued Over Dancer’s Death Blamed on Peanut Allergy

The family of a professional dancer who died of an allergic reaction to a cookie containing peanuts say the store that sold the product, and its baker, are liable for failing to properly label its allergens..

Angela Josephine Baxendale and Louis Grandelli, administrators of Órla Ruth Baxendale’s estate, sued Stew Leonards Danbury LLC, various Stew Leonards employees, and Cookies United LLC for product liability and wrongful death Thursday at a Connecticut state court.

They’ree seeking monetary and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and court costs.
