Three states are suing the Education Department, alleging it is unlawfully canceling federal grants that support special education programs.
Attorneys general representing California, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin claim the department violated federal law by applying new funding priorities without proper notice and in conflict with agency regulation, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
