State Farm Loses Florida Insurance Fight Over School Bus Crashes

School boards are immune from lawsuits seeking no-fault insurance coverage following a crash of a publicly owned school bus, Florida appeals judges ruled Wednesday, splitting with one of their fellow intermediate courts.

State law “does not clearly and unequivocally waive the sovereign immunity of school boards” when they’re sued for reimbursement of no-fault insurance claims, a three-judge Florida Court of Appeal, Fourth District panel said in an opinion.
