Starbucks, Transgender Ex-Barista Resolve Retaliation Suit

Starbucks Corp. and a transgender ex-barista reached an undisclosed settlement and ended a lawsuit where the former employee alleged he was subjected to a hostile work environment and retaliation.

Matthew Palmer and Starbucks reached the agreement during a Nov. 17 arbitration session, Palmer told the US District Court for the Southern District of New York in a Monday status update. Judge John P. Cronan dismissed the case Tuesday. Matthew Porges, the Brooklyn-based attorney representing Palmer, declined to comment on the settlement’s details, citing confidentiality. Counsel for Starbucks didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
