A California man is suing Stanley Steemer International Inc. for monitoring and recording customer service telephone calls without people’s consent in violation of state privacy law.
Gregory Hofer brought the proposed class action against Stanley Steemer in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, saying the company fails to disclose when it records telephone calls with customers. This allegedly violates two sections of California’s Invasion of Privacy Act, which focuses on a person’s right to control the information they choose to disclose, the complaint says.
