Standard Chartered Fails to Shed Aiding, Abetting al Qaeda Claim

Standard Chartered Bank will have to face claims it aided and abetted al Qaeda, in a case brought by families of service members after their loved ones were killed in Afghanistan by improvised explosive devices, after a federal district court denied its motion for reconsideration.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York reaffirmed a prior holding that liability for aiding and abetting “extends to foreseeable injuries.”
