Sprint’s Phone Leases Forced Excessive Payments, Consumers Say

Sprint Corp.'s phone lease plans allegedly locked California consumers into making indefinite monthly payments, even after they had paid the full value of their devices, according to a new class action in federal court.

The named plaintiffs—two California residents who leased Sprint phones—said in the Thursday complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California that the company had a duty to clearly disclose the nature of the contract’s provisions.

The company’s “Flex Lease Agreement,” also known as the “Sprint Flex program,” advertises options for customers to obtain phones for a low monthly cost through monthly installments ...
