Speedway LLC must face a class action alleging it collected and disclosed the biometric information of employees through its use of a fingerprint timekeeping system in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act.
Plaintiff Christopher Howe alleged in the 2019 lawsuit that Speedway collected his fingerprints without obtaining his written consent as required under the statute and without developing and making publicly available a policy concerning the retention and destruction of biometric data.
