Sovos Compliance LLC failed to protect the personal information of more than 215,000 people that was exposed in a May data breach, a proposed federal class action said.
Sergei Stadnik alleged the digital tax compliance and regulatory reporting software company failed to properly monitor its data systems, implement adequate data-security practices, or comply with FTC data-security guidelines and industry standards.
Information exposed in the breach included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and account numbers, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
