South Carolina Abortion Providers Seek Rehearing on Six-Week Ban

Abortion providers in South Carolina asked the state Supreme Court to reconsider its Wednesday decision upholding a state ban on abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, the Greenville Woman’s Clinic, and two physicians filed a request Thursday for a rehearing of the ruling, which they say represents a departure from the court’s January ruling in which it found that a nearly identical six-week ban violated the right of privacy guaranteed by the state constitution.
