Sony Accuses Marriott of Unlicensed Beyoncé, Doja Cat Marketing

Sony Music Entertainment and eight other affiliated record labels accused hotel chain Marriott International Inc.of willfully using unlicensed songs by artists including Beyoncé and Doja Cat in hundreds of promotional social media posts.

The hotel behemoth is responsible for at least 931 infringements of music owned by Sony, according to a complaintfiled May 17 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. Of those, 913 occurred on Marriott’s social media pages, while 18 were posted on third-party influencer accounts, the complaint said.
