A former Sonesta International Hotels Corp. housekeeper must arbitrate her individual Private Attorneys General Act and wage claims, but a federal court in California opted to stay her non-individual PAGA claim rather than dismiss it outright.
There’s “little doubt” that a recent US Supreme Court ruling supports sending to arbitration the ex-housekeeper’s individual claim under the California law that allows workers to recover civil penalties on the state’s behalf, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said.
