The U.S. Forest Service will get out of a lawsuit over its decision to issue a permit to a company planning to build winter huts near snowmobiling routes after a snowmobiling group dropped its challenge in a Washington federal court.
The Washington State Snowmobiling Association argued the special use permit issued to Wenatchee Mountain Alpine Huts LLC created “serious safety concerns.” The permit was issued without public notice and without environmental review as required under federal environmental law, the group told the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.
