Snap Sues Utah to Block Online Age-Check Enforcement Actions

Snap Inc. filed a federal lawsuit seeking to prevent Utah’s attorney general from attempting an alleged end-run around a federal court order blocking enforcement of the state’s 2024 statute imposing age-verification requirements on social-media sites.

Utah Attorney General Derek E. Brown has threatened to impose the requirements on the Snapchat platform under two Utah statutes not covered by the court order, Snap said Thursday in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Utah.
