Soul singer Smokey Robinson is seeking at least $500 million in damages from the four former housekeepers accusing him of rape, arguing they’re defaming him as a part of an extortion scheme.

William Robinson Jr. said he believed the four unnamed women who sued him and his wife earlier this month “harbored resentment” and are seeking to enrich themselves through the couple’s wealth, according to a cross-complaintfiled Wednesday in the California Superior Court, Los Angeles County.
