Smart ERP Solutions Inc. failed to protect the personal information of about 78,700 people, according to a proposed class action filed against the software company.
Smart ERP notified Jason Demmie earlier this month he was impacted by a data breach, after the Internal Revenue Service said someone filed a tax return in his name. Demmie, who filed the complaint in the US District Court for the Northern District of California on Tuesday, seeks to represent a nationwide class.
