Sleepy’s LLC delivery drivers who say the mattress retailer misclassified them as independent contractors when they’re really employees asked a federal judge to sign off on a $4.5 million settlement resolving a nearly 14-year-old wage suit.
The deal follows two worker victories at the Third Circuit and another at the New Jersey Supreme Court. Approximately 110 drivers can benefit from the settlement, with more than half of them receiving at least $10,000 each, according to documents the workers filed in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.
