SkyWest Beats Deaf Worker’s Disability, Retaliation Suit

SkyWest Airlines Inc. got rid of a lawsuit alleging the company didn’t accommodate a deaf ramp agent’s hearing disability, and discriminated and retaliated against him when it fired him.

The US District Court for the District of North Dakota on Jan. 26 threw out the lawsuit after a judge held that the former ramp agent, David Zimmerman, posed a direct threat to the safety of other workers and the company offered him a reasonable accommodation in the form of a new, less noisy job as a gate agent with the same hours and pay rate.
