Skechers Says Rival Infringing Its ‘S’ Trademarks, Design Patent

Skechers USA Inc. is suing a rival for selling a shoe that allegedly infringes its family of “S” trademarks and a design patent.

Skechers sued Dolce Vita Holdings—along with its owner Steve Madden Ltd. and another namesake company—for allegedly adopting a confusingly similar “S” mark on a shoe called the “‘Notice’ sneaker.” The mark is confusingly similar to the family of marks owned by Skechers, the company says in its complaint filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
