A split Sixth Circuit panel on Wednesday ordered Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost to stop blocking from the November ballot a proposed constitutional amendment that would end qualified immunity for public employees like police officers.
The two judges in the majority from the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said the enforcement actions by the Republican Yost, who has rejected the summary of the measure multiple times, constituted a “severe burden” and violated the constitutional rights of the measure’s backers.
