Silicon Valley Investor Sues Hackers Who Stole Confidential Data

Silicon Valley-based investor Sumir Chadha sued unknown California-based hackers who allegedly impersonated him to access confidential data before threatening to disclose it.

Chadha, co-founder and managing partner of WestBridge Capital, said the hackers created a fake Proton Mail email address, csumir@proton.me, in February and used it to access “password-protected and confidential information and electronic communications” held on Labcorp Holdings Inc. servers.

Chadha doesn’t know the identities of the hackers, but believes they have ties to the Bay Area based on IP-address information provided by Laboratory Corporation Holdings of America LLC.
