Shopify’s Social Media Integration Allegedly Infringes Patents

Shopify Inc.'s allegedly copied the ability to allow retailers to sell directly to customers via social media after initially cooperating with the function’s patent holder, DKR Consulting LLC, according to a lawsuit lodged in a California federal court.

The patents for DKR’s Shoppost generally cover the distribution of a web widget to facilitate online commerce directly from sites such as Facebook and X, according to the Tuesday filing in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
