A dispute over the fate of 401(k) funds belonging to Evan Greebel, a now-former attorney convicted of conspiring with pharma bro Martin Shkreli, raised questions about whether district courts have authority to reject proposed settlement agreements.

Greebel, who’d worked with Shkreli’s Retrophin Inc., was found guilty in 2017 of helping defraud the drug company’s investors.
