The man behind what officials said was a sham charity that used the Norfolk Southern Corp. train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio to solicit donations has agreed to pay $25,000 in penalties and to be banned from running a charity in the state.
Michael Peppel entered the agreement with the Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s (R) office. An agreed judgment and final order was signed Thursday by a judge in Columbiana County.
