A former Loyola University Chicago student who was expelled after the school found him culpable for sexual misconduct didn’t support his claims of sex discrimination, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit found Tuesday.
Matthew Metzler showed “non-individualized” pressure on universities to investigate misconduct claims, “credibility determinations divorced from gender,” and procedural errors that have no clear link to sex bias, Judge Amy St. Eve wrote.
