Separated Migrant Families Seek Approval for $6 Million in Fees

Migrant families who were separated at the southern border are asking a district court to approve a proposed settlement between them and the US that would provide $6.4 million in attorneys’ fees.

The settlement would provide for roughly $6.1 million under the Equal Access to Justice Act to the plaintiffs identified as Ms. L, according to the unopposed motion for preliminary approval filed on Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of California.
