Senior-Living Chain’s $1.4 Million Biometric Deal Gets Court Nod

Meridian Senior Living LLC will pay more than $1.4 million to settle a class action alleging it collected the biometric identifiers of employees at its Illinois facilities without their knowledge or consent in violation of the state’s biometric-privacy law, under a deal given final approval in federal court.

The settlement provides a gross award of nearly $850 per member for a class of 1,644 current and former employees of the senior-living-home chain, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for final approval of the deal filed in the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
