Self-Storage Trade Publication Hit With Company’s Trademark Suit

An Arkansas self-storage company says a trade publication’s 2023 rebranding infringes the trademark it says it registered in 2017.

Modern Storage LLC said it has “engaged in substantial marketing and promotion” of its facilities under the mark MODERN STORAGE, including through videos on self-storage topics published on its website. However, when Store Local Media Corp. acquired “Mini-Storage Messenger,” it chose in Sept. 2023 to rebrand the self-storage media website to “Modern Storage Media,” according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
