Sea Lion Technology to Pay $2.9 Million Over Texas Site Cleanup

Sea Lion Technology Inc. agreed to pay the EPA $2.9 million to settle a lawsuit over the costs of cleaning up a Texas Superfund site, according to a filing in a federal court in the state.

The company sent waste materials and other hazardous substances to the Malone Service Company Superfund Site in Texas City between 1977 and 1993, the federal government told the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Substances sent to the site include “spent process acid, corrosive and hazardous waste liquids, and spent sulfuric acid,” according to the Wednesday filing.
