ScribeAmerica LLC has reached a settlement in principle with a former medical scribe who says her after-hours study time should have been paid.
Julia Garfield was expected to spend substantial time outside of class to learn how to be a medical scribe. But while ScribeAmerica pays students $10 an hour for 15 to 20 hours per week of in-person instruction, she told the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida that 10 to 20 hours per week of off-hour study time should’ve been compensated.
