SCOTUS Won’t Hear General Dynamics Worker ADA Suit Over Footwear

A former General Dynamics production worker in Virginia failed Monday to convince the U.S. Supreme Court to review the rejection of her disability bias suit over the company’s steel-toed shoe rule.

Shelia Holmes said the enforcement of the requirement, which General Dynamics Mission Systems Inc. said is necessary for employee safety, violated the Americans with Disabilities Act. She has a lifelong genetic condition that causes toes on both of her feet to overlap, which is worsened when she wears unyielding shoes, she said.
